Harv Russell

Activities for teens have expanded to include programs for K-5, junior high, high school, college, summer day camps, music ministries, a year round sports program, and a teen summer camp.

Today, thousands of young people pass through its doors annually, hundreds of Christian homes have been established, and scores of former "Centerites" are in full-time ministry.

Harv has also served as part-time interim pastor in several local churches for a total of over sixteen years. He was one of the founding board members of the local Joliet Christian school. He serves on the board of directors of Impact International, and he was involved in hospital visitation at Silver Cross Hospital. Harv has served on the board of the Moody Alumni Association and in 1998 received the Alumnus of the Year Award.

His greatest reward is seeing the results of ministry manifested in the lives of some of "his kids" now in full-time ministry as well as hundreds of others as solid Christian role models in the community.

Harvey Stewart Russell has dedicated his life to youth ministry. He founded the beginnings of the Christian Youth Center in 1947 and acted as its Director until 1999. Harv continues to offer guidance to the Center as Director Emeritus.

Harv Russell has been working with young people for over fifty years. He started a High School Bible Club in Joliet while a student at Moody Bible Institute in Chicago. That Hi-C Club became the Christian Youth Center (CYC). The center's facilities include over twenty acres of property and a half-million dollar meeting and recreation structure.
